Good evening. The winter storm is on fast approach and snow has already started to spread into the southern zones of the forecast area. This is going to be a quick hitter tonight. For many outside of New England, most of the snow falls before daybreak. By mid to late morning many to the south may see sunny skies with stormy conditions continuing in New England. The roads in the early AM will not be good as this storm will have a lot of cold air on tap.
I am keeping my forecast consistent. I did add a yellow zone where I think some heavy snow banding can produce amounts up to 6" in NJ. Otherwise this is a general 2-5" for most with 4-8 locally 10" in eastern New England...
Light snow is already moving into the area as of 9pm...
By 11am, the storm is over for most but continues for areas in eastern Mass,RI, Maine, etc...
At this time I expect the storm to be quite intense which means snow should pile up to that 4-8" locally 10" range in those areas.
Outside of Maine, the storm starts to wind down by mid afternoon...
Latest model printouts have snowfall projections similar to my forecast..
Things then get very cold tomorrow night which means snow will not melt away...
