Good morning. Our quick hitting winter storm for early tomorrow morning into the afternoon is on track. After looking at all the updated data, I made a few small tweaks to my forecast from yesterday, but overall not many changes. Snow ratios will be high and it will not be hard to pile up a few inches with this. Not a major storm, but still impactful.
In terms of timing, areas to the south will see it start to snow around midnight tonight while areas more north before daybreak. For most folks, this is over by late tomorrow morning with snow lingering in eastern New England into the early afternoon.
Here is the going forecast...
Updated models are still dancing around the exact placement of this storm but overall the idea is consistent. The storm hits the 2-5 inch zone with some light to moderate snow which due to cold air will have good snow growth/ratios. For the dark blue zone, I expect more snow due to the low strengthen by the time it hits eastern New England. This means the opportunity for some heavier snow hence the higher totals.
Here is a model loop that goes from 10pm tonight to 3 pm tomorrow. I think this shows the evolution of this nicely. Notice how its a pretty fast mover and how the storm tries to wind up over eastern New England...
I also mentioned how temps will be cold during this storm causing good snow to liquid ratios. You can see by 7am tomorrow morning temps are in mid 20's for most areas..
Snow should have no problem sticking to roadways.
In the wake of this storm things should stay pretty cold though the weekend.
