Good morning. We picked up about 7.5" overnight at my house in NNJ and surrounding reports are in the same ballpark. I will be updating the blog throughout the day as this storm progresses.
Our major winter storm is on track. The main event is still later this morning through the the evening. This is when conditions will get the worse. Snowfall rates will be picking up rapidly by around 12pm and not let up. Winds will be gusting up to 45 mph making travel almost impossible. The most intense snow should start to let up by late tonight, however, models indicate light to moderate snow will continue through Tuesday morning. When it is all said and done, many areas will see well over 14" of snow from this system with localized areas in NNJ and NE PA with over 24".
The forecast I released yesterday is on track. There will be locally some higher amounts..
As of 630 our storm is rapidly developing off the coast....
Current radar shows heavy snow starting to develop in spots. This will really fill in by 12pm...
By 1pm it is really snow hard in most places as the coastal low starts to strengthen rapidly...
As we move through the afternoon this storm is absolutely going to be cranking. Blizzard conditions are possible. Between the hours of 1-6pm a extremely intense band of snowfall is expected to develop over the area. This is where snowfall rates can exceed 2" per hour...
Winds will be very strong. The models usually overdo this, but gusts should be 35 to 45 mph...
At 10pm it is still snowing hard...
As we get to early Tuesday morning the storm intensity starts to let up...

This storm is not over hyped. It will be historic. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day.
Hey Willy, storm is dudish for us down in Moorestown. Only 4". Do u think more moisture will wrap in tonight and get us at least another 4?
