Thursday Update: Winters Last Hurrah Next Week?

There is some action that could be looming for middle of next week. We have an upper level weather pattern that does support storm development (as we have had this whole incredible March). I will be going into more details over the next few days as I get back from my ski trip Saturday.

PS. Areas of Vt are getting record snow from a lingering upper level low that was part of the storm system this week. Jay peak has already reported over 72"!

  1. I've got my eyes glued right now to the wx models (when not tending to other annoying things like making a living)! But yea, it's great to consult knowledgeable people who have a good feel for weather patterns and model quirks, like Willy and Joe C. They put it into context, since the machines can't quite do what they do, not yet anyway. (Interesting question though, will AI ever eliminate the need for human forecasters?)

(And yea, I know that some guy must be tempted to respond about how he has HIS eyes glued to other types of "models". Fine, but Heidi or Gisele or Kendall ain't gonna be there next week to help you dig out!) Jim G

  2. Looks like it's gonna be awhile after all until artificial intelligence puts weather people out of business. Saturday afternoon, and the GFS and Euro are now saying no snow this coming week (whereas the GFS was up over 12 inches yesterday evening). Canadian sez maybe 2 inches, and the NAM now weighing in with heavy snow south of 78 (and also most of Essex and Hudson), upwards of 8 inches to the north. Willy, hope you heal up real quick, we need your non-artificial intelligence here! Jim G
