Thursday Night Update: Storm Will Be Powerful and Maybe Historical

Video below gives my latest breakdown on tomorrow's powerful storm. Early morning update on tap  to keep everyone ahead of the storm.

Summary:

  • No changes to my map from this morning
  • A long duration powerful storm will impact the region through tomorrow
  • Expect heavy rain changing to snow in areas at the higher elevations to the northwest (NW NJ, Poconos) by tomorrow late morning
  • Expect very high winds at the coast and winds gusting high inland all day tomorrow
    • worst impacts will be New England coast
  • Many areas can see snow at the tail end as this storm pulls away (NYC, CNJ)

  1. 0Z NAM is actually backing off a little on snow from earlier runs. But even a model-observation novice like me can see the loopy dance that the storm center will do once it gets off-shore, because of that Greenland block. Now if this set-up had occurred in January . . . OMG. Still, best to everyone tomorrow in riding this one out. Thanks as always to Willy for the great coverage. Jim G

    1. If this was January we would have a top 5 all time storm. For NJ its a few inches on the back end unless you live in NW NJ at the high elevations. I really think those areas can see significant snow. Fun day of tracking ahead!
