We are currently not in an ideal pattern for producing signifigant winter storms. What we will be dealing with tomorrow night is a fast moving wave of low pressure that will track off the NJ coast....
The models have been struggling with how close to the coast this low pressure system gets. Due to the progressive nature of the weather pattern I think it stays offshore and gives the region the chance for another dusting of snow and maybe 1-2" near coastal areas including eastern New England.
There is a chance we see this make a last min shift to be stronger and closer to the coast in which this can produce a few inches but I really don't think that happens.
To follow the warm surge moves in for the weekend...
A storm system will cut to our west bringing with it very warm air with temps in the 50's and even 60's in spots Saturday..
From there things will stay mild for the next 2 weeks into late January. There is a chance that northern New England ski resorts do ok but overall its is the opposite of a winter pattern continued...
There is evidence we can finally shift back to a more wintery pattern by the end on January. I believe it will be confined to areas off the major coasts however. Why is this happening? I will go into more details on that in another post this week.
Winter is not over but this current pattern is almost as bad as it gets for snow lovers.
