- Not an ideal winter weather pattern for snow in the east over next 2-3 weeks with strong polar vortex and progressive pacific flow of air
- Western ski areas will pile up a lot of snow
- The silver lining is there is a lot of cold air on our side of the globe up in NW Canada that can bleed down into the united states
- The Sub Tropical jet stream is active which means any cold air bleeding down can time with the cold air shots and cause a thread the needle type storm
- This is not ideal because it all relies on perfect timing of northern and southern energy
- If we had a blocking pattern over Greenland it would cause all this energy to slow down and consolidate easier
- We will then have to see if by the end of January the pattern can flip to more sustainable winter in the east.
Despite all of this there is a chance of a storm Tuesday night into Wednesday.
