Tuesday Update: Brutal Cold Saturday

Good morning. There hasn't been much to talk about regarding winter weather lately and I also do not expect much winter weather for the next few weeks. It has been one of those years that will go down as one of the snowless in my opinion.

However we do have a very impressive brief Arctic shot of air to deal with Saturday. The front is going to move in Friday night and temperatures are going to crash into the single digits and Sub-Zero to our north. When you factor in the wind wind chills it will be negative Saturday morning. Up in areas like Vermont and Maine, wind chills can get as low as negative 50°.

Let's take a look...

The image below shows how air is going to directly discharge from the Arctic as seen by the gray color...

When we bring this down to the surface you could see forecasted temperatures for 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning...

Anything in gray is Sub-Zero. Models will move back and forth on how far south the Sub-Zero line gets but regardless it's very cold.

Factoring wind chills makes going outside For more than a few minutes unmanageable...

The good news is this is out very quickly. Things will warm up again on Sunday to the upper 20s and then back to more mild conditions by next week. I don't see much to produce any snowfall in the foreseeable future. As I said it's going to be one of those years we just don't see a lot of snow.

Stay tuned.
