Welcome to December!

Good morning. December is now underway and of course that means any winter weather is no rare occurrence anymore. In fact, old man winter might make a quick appearance Tuesday night as northwest counties see a little snow before it changes to a wintry mix and rain..

This should not be much to write home about as by nature this small disturbance will be bringing in warm air which changes this all to rain. But we can not rule out some accumulations at high elevations to the north and west.

After Tuesday, temps struggle to moderate although they will not be bitterly cold heading into the weekend..This chart below is for Morristown NJ. Blue bars are high temperatures. Just use this as a proxy all areas in NJ,PA, NY won't deviate too far from this

Overall what you see is an average temperature profile. Ignore the peroid past this weekend as that will be very inaccurate. As I mentioned over the weekend, I expect mid-month on to be below average for temperatures. All due to stratospheric warming. .

In terms of major snow threats, nothing on the maps at this time. I will have to keep an eye on early next week as there is some hints of storm development along the east coast. Nothing concrete though.

We will keep an eye on this as the week progresses.
