Good morning. Winter may be over for many but for interior New England a great ski weekend looks to be on tap.
Some light showers will move over area today but the main storm moves in Wednesday night and goes through Thursday...
A general 6 to 8 inches of snow will fall in the mountains with locally higher amounts in the ski areas. This should be one of the best ski weekends of the year for New England.
Here is what model snow maps look like...
Notice the elevation driven nature of the snowfall printouts. For lower elevations do not expect much in interior New England.
For southern Vermont, some mixing can occur but there should be a change back to snow. That will be the hardest area to forecast with this. Best bet is to plan to go to Killington northward.
Things then stay cool for the weekend with winter temps...
The long range then looks like we will see an early spring (no surprise). Temps should stay above normal for much of March this year...
I am very confident there will be no March surprise this year with winter weather. The pattern overwhelmingly does not support that.
