Severe Storms Now In NJ, Line Heading Northeast

Thursday 7pm update:

As you can see the bow shaped line indicates strong storms with high winds heading northeast. This will hit most of central and north Jersey. I do not see any evidence of rotation on these storms yet, so no tornado threat at the current point.

Stay tuned..

Monday June 24th Eve

Good evening. We will see a very summer like week with temps in the high 80's and 90's. Expect a chance of thunderstorms towards the end of everyday this week. It looks like Thursday could be the worst for thunderstorms.

I will keep my eye on the maps and update the blog this week if I find any severe threats entering our area on any of the days, so check in.

Strong Thunderstorms Possible Later, Few Can Be Severe

Slow moving cold front will pass through out area later today. Expect some strong storms to fire up along the front. Here is the area of concern.

Not a big severe outbreak, but some big storms are possible so keep an eye out. Timing is between 12-5 pm for stronger storms.

First Look at Tropical Threat Next Weekend

Good Afternoon. It is highly probable that a tropical wave/depression will develop in the Caribbean this week and track north, northeast possible right up the east coast. This will NOT be a hurricane but it will still carry with it a punch. Model guidance is divided between the EURO/Canadian and GFS as to how close to the coast this storm comes. I will post in more detail this week but here is what the model spread looks like. At this point my first take is that the storm will come up the coast and effect our area with rain and wind next weekend.

Euro.

GFS..

Canadian..

More details to come early this week.
